O mundo precisa conhecer o jogo sujo da Rede Globo!!!
No ano de 1993 o canal britânico de televisão Channel 4 produziu o consagrado documentário Muito Além do Cidadão Kane, que exibiu as táticas anti-democráticas e manipuladoras da Rede Globo para o mundo.
Por isso dois jornalistas brasileiros em Londres, o Victor Fraga e o Valnei Nunes, resolveram dar seguimento ao filme de 1993, estabelecendo um diálogo entre o passado e o presente, e demonstrando que a Rede Globo pouco mudou ao longo das décadas, mantendo seu jornalismo anti-ético e tendencioso, alinhado a interesses do grande capital.
Objetivos:
O filme tem os seguintes objetivos
- Reabrir a discussão a respeito da parcialidade e ética jornalística da Rede Globo e grande mídia em geral.
- Denunciar o viés anti-democrático e táticas manipuladoras da Globo, assim como seu papel no golpe de 2016, para brasileiros.
- Revelar para o mundo o papel da Rede Globo e da grande mídia na desestabilização da democracia brasileira.
- Deixar um documento e registro histórico sobre o papel de um conglomerado de mídia em um golpe que solapou a democracia brasileira
O que precisa ser feito:
O filme já conta com pré-roteiro, argumento, tratamento, equipe, parte do equipamento, parceiros. Além disso, muitas das pessoas que serão entrevistadas já estão engajadas no processo. Abaixo estão os items que visamos financiar através da campanha de crowdfunding:
- Despesas de viagem (dentro do Brasil e Reino Unido). Entrevistas serão realizadas em, ao menos, quatro cidades: Brasília, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro e Londres (Reino Unido).
- Parte do equipamento audiovisual ainda precisa ser adquirido.
- Diárias da equipe (produção e pós-produção)

Muito Além de Cidadão Kane, um documentário britânico
O filme de 110 minutos e realizado em 1993 fez um extenso trabalho de jornalismo investigativo. Denunciou, por exemplo, que a Globo transmitiu o movimento Diretas Já em São Paulo nos anos 80 como se fosse "um grande carnaval de rua", sem qualquer conotação política. Mostrou também a clara manipulação do debate entre Collor e Lula em 1989 em favor do candidato alagoano, que viria a vencer as eleições em seguida. O áudio da greve de metalúrgicos comandada por Lula também foi forjado, tirando a voz do então líder trabalhista. Até mesmo o vídeo de uma bomba em um carro foi distorcido com o intuito de difamar "comunistas", numa época em que sequer existia técnicas de manipulação digital. Os grandes nêmesis da Rede Globo, Lula e Brizola, são entrevistados ao longo do filme, que também conta com a presença de grandes artistas e personalidades, entre eles Chico Buarque e Gilberto Gil.
O documentário também inclui extensa pesquisa histórica, revelando que o jornal O Globo celebrou o golpe militar de 1964 através de seu editorial, e que sempre foram entusiastas apoiadores da ditadura militar que governou o Brasil por mais de duas décadas. Foi justamente em troca deste apoio que o grupo eventualmente receberia sua concessão televisiva, e sua primeira transmissão iria finalmente ao ar pela primeira vez em 1969.
A história se repete
Em 2013, a Globo se desculpou por meio do Jornal Nacional por sua participação no golpe militar de 1964. A despeito do pedido de desculpas, o Globo voltou a participar de um outro golpe, o impeachment ilegal da presidenta Dilma Rousseff em maio de 2016. Apesar da fachada legal, a remoção da presidenta eleita não teve amparo constitucional e foi um processo ilegítimo, já que a mesma não havia cometido nenhum crime. A
O apoio da Globo veio através da constante demonização do Partido dos Trabalhadores em seus noticiários, e quase total indiferença aos crimes cometidos por partidos de direita como o PSDB. A Globo também tem se mostrado leal aliada do presidente ilegítimo Michel Temer. O documentário A FANTÁSTICA FÁBRICA DE GOLPES demonstrará através de pesquisas que o jornalismo da Globo é extremamente tendencioso e parcial. Manifestações pró-impeachment receberam ampla cobertura, enquanto manifestações pró-Dilma foram reduzidas ou simplesmente ignoradas. Além disso, o viés manipulador da Globo ainda inclui práticas extremamente questionáveis como a forjamento de áudio (por exemplo, a remoção das vaias ao Temer durante as Olímpíadas) e até mesmo censura (a ala dos "manifestoches" da Tuiti foi simplesmente cortada durante o Desfile das Campeãs no carnaval carioca). Além, disso, a emissora cumpre papel instrumental no processo de lawfare (perseguição jurídica) ao ex-presidente Lula, tendo em vista a inviabilização de sua candidatura e concretização da segunda parte do golpe iniciado há dois anos. Enquanto isso, os graves retrocessos sociais da drástica agenda neo-liberal do governo ilegítimo de Temer são praticamente ignorados pela emissor - como a reforma da previdência e a erosão dos direitos trabalhistas (CLT).
O novo documentário
O novo documentário A FANTÁSTICA FÁBRICA DE GOLPES terá cerca de 75 minutos e estabelecerá um diálogo entre o passado e o presente. Contará com diversas imagens do documentário Muito Além de Cidadão Kane, além de imagens de eventos dos últimos dois anos coletadas através de vários meios, principalmente a mídia alternativas. Entrevistas exclusivas constituirão o elemento inédito e pilar central do filme.
Entrevistas já confirmadas ou em processo de articulação incluem: presidenta eleita Dilma Rousseff, ex-presidente Luís Inácio Lula da Silva, senador Roberto Requião, senadora Gleisi Hoffman, deputado federal Jean Wyllys, deputada federal Benedita da Silva, compositor Chico Buarque, advogado britânico-australiano de direitos humanos de Lula Geoffrey Robertson, artista e ativista político Brian Eno, parlamentar britânico Chris Williamson, escritora Naomi Klein, juristas Cristiano e Valeska Martins, produtor de Muito Além de Cidadão Kane e professor de mídia John Ellis, vereador carioca Leonel Brizola Neto, líder do movimento social Frente da Luta por Moradia Carmen Silva Ferreira, comentarista político Breno Altman, jornalista e ex-apresentador da Globo Paulo Henrique Amorim, além de outros políticos, ativistas, intelectuais brasileiros e estrangeiros, e membros do público (telespectadores da Globo).
A trilha sonora do filme contará com artistas engajados na luta contra avanços reacionários. Entre eles Naked Universe e Muntchako (já presentes na trilha sonora do teaser do crowdfunding). Estamos também em diálogo com Linn da Quebrada, L_cio & Boratto, Dagruta, Chico Buarque, e outros.
O filme abordará não somente a Globo, e também outros diversos temas relacionados à grande mídia. A princípio, o filme será dividido em 10 partes (abaixo), mas a estrutura é flexível e poderá adaptar-se de acordo com mudanças na conjuntora político-social do país, assim como requerimentos artísticos.
Parte 1: Muito Além do Cidadão Kane - o impacto do documentário britânico dentro e fora do Brasil.
Parte 2: O poder da Globo - imparcialidade da Globo comparada a canais em outras partes do mundo.
Parte 3: A Globo e o golpe de 1964 - a vocação anti-democrática da Rede Globo, e sua relação simbiótica com poder.
Parte 4: A Globo e o golpe de 2016 - a história se repete.
Parte 5: O choque elétrico e o petróleo - a Doutrina do Choque de Naomi Klein no contexto brasileiro, conjuntura internacional do golpe e interesses hegemônicos.
Parte 6: Lula, o inimigo - a demonização do ex-presidente ao longo de quatro décadas, e o lawfare de 2018.
Parte 7: Dilma, a incompetente - deconstrução da primeira presidenta do Brasil, misoginia.
Parte 8: A voz do povo - os protestos contra o golpe, dentro e fora do Brasil, tudo que a Globo não mostrou.
Parte 9: Um golpe contra trabalhadores e minorias - o impacto do golpe sobre trabalhadores, negros, mulheres, comunidade LGBT, indígena e outras, e a representatividade destes grupos na Globo e grande mídia em geral.
Parte 10: A Globo mudará? Será necessário outro documentário em 25 anos? Soluções, chamadas à ação.

A pesquisa de campo será realizada com a apoio de diversas mídia alternativas (como o Jornalistas Livres, Mídia Ninja, Cafezinho, etc). Contará também com o apoio de instituições, think tanks e grupos de pesquisa como o Manchetômetro, Centro de Estudos de Mídia Alternativa Barão de Itararé e a Fundação Perseu Abramo.
A produção conta com o apoio do cineasta brasileiro residente em Berlim Karim Ainouz e da empresa de cinema britânica DMovies, que se dedica à produção e promoção de filmes engajados e provocadores. Nara Filippon trabalhará como assistente de produção. O time também inclui Lucas Dantas na cinematografia.
O filme será uma co-produção anglo-brasileira em português e inglês (sempre com legendas na segunda língua). O material inédito do filme será filmado inteiramente em 4k, haverá imagens aéreas e uso de lapela sem fio e boom para captação externa de áudio.
Cronograma
O filme será completado em dezembro de 2019, e abaixo estão enumeradas as mais importantes fases de nosso cronograma:
- Abril e maio de 2018 - campanha de crowdfunding.
- Junho a setembro de 2018 - pré-produção e entrevistas no Reino Unido.
- Outubro de 2018 - primeira rodada de filmagens no Brasil (eleições e entrevistas).
- November de 2018 a fevereiro de 2019 - pesquisa de campo.
- Março a abril de 2019 - segunda rodada de filmagens no Brasil (entrevistas e demais).
- Maio a outubro de 2019 - pós-produção.
É necessário um hiato entre a primeira e a segunda rodada de entrevistas devido às eleições e recesso do Congresso em janeiro.

Victor Fraga
Nascido em Salvador, Victor vive em Londres (Reino Unido) desde 1997. Formou-se em Estudos de Cinema em 2003 em Birkbeck College. É respeitado jornalista, e também cineasta, fundador e diretor da empresa britânica DMovies, dedicada à produção, exibição e promoção de cinema engajado e provocador.
Trabalhou durante sete anos no jornal britânico The Guardian, além de empresas de inteligência de mercado e análise de dados, entre elas a Frost & Sullivan, IDC e Mintel. Também foi editor de revistas independentes de cultura e cinema: a JungleDrums e Film Festival Magazine. Também tem vasta experiência com eventos, já tendo realizado os festivais de cinema 1st London Brazilian Film Festivale o Jungle Cineclub.
Valnei Nunes
Valnei Nunes nasceu em Salvador, Bahia. É jornalista, cineasta e fotógrafo, e reside atualmente em Londres. Além de ter sido o primeiro cineasta brasileiro a registrar a guerra contra o Estado Islâmico, na fronteira entre a Síria e a Turquia, é correspondente internacional pela Rede Minas em Londres e escreve para revista anglo-brasileira Adriana Chiari Magazine.
Também realizou coberturas internacionais para outros veículos brasileiros e internacionais e fez exposições fotográficas pela Europa e Brasil. Valnei dirigiu documentários e fotografou temas étnicos em quase toda sua carreira, passando pelo sertão, comunidades indígenas, quilombolas, trabalhou com direitos humanos e também em zonas de conflito.

John Ellis
John é produtor e professor universitário em Londres, e britânico de nascença. Em 1993 produziu o icônico documentário Muito Além do Cidadão Kane para o Channel 4. É o maior nome associado ao filme já que o diretor da obra Simon Hartog faleceu antes do filme ser terminado. John ficou encarregado da etapa de pós-produção do filme, e possui os direitos do mesmo.
Atualmente, John é professor de Artes e Mídia no Centro de História de Cultura e Produção Televisiva, na Universidade de Holloway (na capital britânica).

THE COUP D'ÉTAT FACTORY
The world needs to find out about TV Globo's dirty game!
In 1993 the British Channel 4 produced the emblematic documentary Brazil Beyond Citizen Kane, which denounced the anti-democratic and manipulative tactics of TV Globo, the largest television and media conglomerate of Brazil.
Now two Brazilian journalists based in London, Victor Fraga and Valnei Nunes, decided to give continuity to the 1993 movie, establishing a dialogue between the past and the present. The new film, which will be called THE COUP D'ÉTAT FACTORY will reveal that TV Globo has hardly changed throughout the decades, retaining its highly biased and unethical journalistic practices, aligned with the interests of large capitalists.
Objectives:
The film has the following aims:
- To reopen the discussion around media bias and journalistic ethics in TV Globo and the big media in general;
- To denounce the anti-democratic vocation and manipulative tactics of TV Globo, and its instrumental role in the 2016 coup d'état, to Brazilian people;
- To expose the role of TV Globo and the big media in the destabilisation of Brazilian democracy to the world; and
- To leave a document and a historical register about the role of a media conglomerate in a coup d'état that wrecked Brazilian democracy.
What needs to be done
The movie already has a pre-script, argument, treatment, crew, part of the equipment, partners, plus many of the interviewees are already engaged in the project. Below are the items which we aim to finance with the crowdfunding money:
- Travel expenses (in Brazil and the UK). Interviews will be conducted in at least four cities: Brasília, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and London (UK);
- Part of the audiovisual equipment still needs to be acquired;
- Daily rates for the crew (production and post-production); and
- Legal costs (Brazil and UK).
Brazil Beyond Citizen Kane, a British documentary
The 110-minute film denounced, for example, that TV Globo broadcast the Diretas Já ("Elections Now") movements of the 1980s (demanding direct elections) in São Paulo as if it was a mere "street carnival" devoid of any political connotation. It also revealed that Globo doctored the debate between presidential candidates Lula and Collor in 1989 in favour of the latter, who would consequently win the elections by a very small margin. The audio of a metal workers' strike was also altered, removing the voices of the union leaders. Even a video of a bomb in a vehicle was toyed with in order to blame communists, at a time digital photoshopping didn't even exist. Globo's big nemeses the left-wing politicians Lula and Brizola are interviewed throughout the documentary, plus big artists and personalities are featured - such as Chico Buarque and Gilberto Gil.
The doc also includes extensive amounts of historical research, revealing that the Globo newspaper celebrated the military coup d'état in 1964 in its editorial, and that they remained enthusiastic supporters of the consequent military dictatorship that ruled the country for more than two decades. They received their TV concession precisely in exchange for such support. TV Globo was first aired a few years later, in 1969.
History repeating
In 2013, TV Globo apologised in its main news show Jornal Nacional for its support of the 1964 coup d'état. Despite the mitigation, TV Globo helped to stage yet another coup d'état, the illegal impeachment of president Dilma Rousseff in May 2016. Despite a thin legal veneer, Dilma's was not in line with the Brazilian constitution and was instead a thoroughly illegitimate process, since Dilma had not committed any crime or misdemeanour.
TV Globo's support for the 2016 coup was expressed through the unrelenting demonisation of the Brazilian Workers' Party (Dilma's party) in its news reporting, and the almost complete neglect of the high crimes and misdemeanours carried out by the right-wing parties, such as PSDB. Globo has become a staunch ally of the illegitimate president Michel Temer. The documentary THE COUP D'ÉTAT FACTORYwill demonstrate that Globo's journalism is extremely biased and tendentious. Pro-impeachment demonstrations received extensive coverage, while the pro-Dilma protests were distorted or simply neglected. Globo manipulation tactics include highly questionable practices such as audio doctoring (for example, the booing of Temer during the Olympics was removed) and even censorship (costumes of the Samba school Tuiuti mocking the coup and the coup mongers were cut out of Globo's Carnival coverage). To boot, Globo plays an instrumental role in the lawfare (judicial persecution) of former president Lula, seeking to prevent him from running for office in 2018 (in what is described as "the second part" of the coup staged in 2016). Meanwhile, the major setbacks of the Temer extreme neo-liberal agenda (such as pension reform and the erosion of worker's rights) are bluntly ignored by the news network.
The new documentary
The new documentary THE COUP D'ÉTAT FACTORY will have a duration of approximately 75 minutes, and it will establish a dialogue between the past and the present. It will include footage from its predecessor Brazil Beyond Citizen Kane, as well as images collected in the past couple of years (mostly with the support with alternative of Brazil). Brand new and exclusive interviews will represent the most important pillar of the movie.
Interviews already confirmed or in the process of being requested include: elected president Dilma Rousseff, former president Luís Inácio Lula da Silva, senator Roberto Requião, congressman Jean Wyllys, congresswoman Benedita da Silva, senator Gleisi Hoffman, music composer Chico Buarque, British-Australian Human Rights Lawyer Geoffrey Robertson, artist and activist Brian Eno, British MP George Galloway, writer Naomi Klein, lawyers Cristiano e Valeska Martins, producer of Brazil Beyond Citizen Kane and media professor John Ellis, city councillor Leonel Brizola Neto, homeless activist Carmen Silva Ferreira, political commentator Breno Altman, journalist and former Globo presenter Paulo Henrique Amorim, and many other politicians, activists and intellectual from Brazil and beyond, as well as members of the public (Globo viewers).
The movie will feature an original soundtrack including artists engaged in the fight against the deeply reactionary events taking place in Brazil. They include Naked Universe and Muntchako (already featured in the crowfunding teaser above). We are currently having a conversation with artists such as Linn da Quebrada, Dagruta, L_cio & Boratto and Chico Buarque, amongst others.
The film won’t focus solely on Globo; it will also discuss many other topics. As of now, the film will be divided into 10 parts (described below), but the structure is flexible and it might change in order to accommodate changes in the socio-political conjecture of the country, as well as artistic requirements.
Part 1: Brazil Beyond Citizen Kane - the impact of the British documentary from 1993 both inside and outside Brazil;
Part 2: The power of Globo - Partiality og TV Globo compared to other channels across the Globe;
Part 3: Globo and the 1964 coup d’état - the anti-democratic vocation of TV Globo, and its symbiotic relation with power;
Part 4: Globo and the 2016 coup d’état - history repeating;
Part 5: The electroshock and oil - Naomi Klein’s Shock Doctrine in the Brazilian context, the international conjecture of the coup d’état and hegemonic interests;
Part 6: Lula, the nemesis - the vilification of the former president throughout the decades, and the lawdare campaign of 2018;
Part 7: Dilma, the useless one - deconstruction of the first female president of Brazil, misogyny;
Part 8: The voice of the people - the protests against the coup d’état both inside and outside Brazil, everything Globo didn’t show;
Part 9: A blow against workers and minorities - the impact of the coup d’état on workers, black, LGBT and indigenous communities, amongst others, and the representation of these groups on Globo and the big media.
Part 10: Will Globo ever change? Will yet another documentary be necessary in 25 years? Solutions, call to action.
The field research will be conducted with the support of various independent media (such as Jornalistas Livres, Mídia Ninja, Cafezinho, etc). It will also include the support from various organisations, think tanks and research institutes (such and Manchetômetro, Research Institute Barao de Itarare and Fundação Perseu Abramo)
The production will be supported by the emblematic Brazilian director Karim Ainouz, who resides in Berlin, and the British film platform DMovies, which is dedicated to the production and promotion of thought-provoking cinema. Nara Filippon will be assistant producer, Lucas Dantas will be DOP.
The film will be an Anglo-Brazilian co-production in both Portuguese and English (there will always be subtitles in the second language). The new material in the movie will be filmed exclusively in 4k, there will be aerial shots, wireless lapel mics and external audio.
TIMELINE
The film will be finished in December 2019. Below are the most important stages of our timeline:
- April and May 2018 - crowdfunding campaign;
- June to September 2018 - pre-production and interviews in the UK;
- October 2018 - first filming round in Brazil (interviews and elections);
- November 2018 to February 2019 - research;
- March and April 2019 - second filming round in Brazil (interviews and sundry material); and
- May to October 2019 - post-production.
It will be necessary to have a hiatus between the first and the second filming rounds to to elections and in Brazil and also holidays in the Congress (Parliament) in January.

THE DIRECTORS
Victor Fraga
Born in Salvador (Brazil), Victor has lived in London (UK) since 1997. He holds a degree in Film Studies from Birkbeck College in 1993 (also in London). He’s an accomplished journalist, and also a filmmaker. He’s the founder and director of the British company DMovies, the platform for thought-provoking cinema, which provides marketing and production services.
For seven years, he worked for the British national newspaper The Guardian, and he was also a business analyst for major research organisations such as Frost & Sullivan, IDC and Mintel. He was also the editor of indie film and culture magazine: JungleDrums and the Film Festival Magazine. He also has vast experience with events, having run film festivals such as the 1st London Brazilian Film Festival and Jungle Cineclub.
Valnei Nunes
Valnei was born in Salvador (Brazil), and he currently lives in London. He’s a journalist, photographer and filmmaker. He was the first Brazilian filmmaker to register the war against Isis in the border of Turkey and Syria. He’s now the international correspondent for Rede Minas TV in London and he also writes for the Anglo-Brazilian mag Adriana Chiari Magazine.
He has also done international coverage for various other Brazilian and international media, as well as photographic exhibitions in Europe and Brazil. He has directed several documentaries and the has photographed ethnic-related topics throughout his career, travelling past the dry hinterlands of Brazil, indigenous tribes, former slave communities (quilombolas), plus he has worked with human rights and conflict zones.
John Ellis
John is a film producer and professor in London. In 1993, he produced the emblematic documentary Brazil Beyond Citizen Kane for Channel 4. He’s the biggest name associated with film, since the film director Simon Hartog passed away before the completion of the movie. John was in charge of the post-production, and he also owns the film rights.
He’s currently professor for Media Arts for the Department of Media Arts at the Centre for the History of Television Culture and Production of the Holloway University in London.
